Volunteers - Homestart TeignbridgeVolunteers who are carefully trained, all have experience of bringing up children, give free emotional and practical help to any parent, with at least one child under five. Will visit a family in their own home and offer friendship. Home-Start volunteers represent a lifeline for many families who are finding it hard to cope. You could spend time helping a parent build their confidence as they adapt to living with a small baby or share an outing with a family who find getting out of the house difficult, or offer an extra pair of hands to a family with several small children, or provide an understanding ear. 8 - 10 week preparation course and ongoing training & opportunities to develop new skills with access to further education available. 2 - 4 hours per week.
