 Outreach Play Activity Session

Tepee have been delivering a Freewheeling programme for a number of years. Freewheeling sessions are play/activity sessions for children aged between 4 and 14 years of age. They are usually 2 hours long and offer a wide range of activity, puppet making, circus skills, toy making, music and drama etc. Tepee uses professional workshop leaders, who are experts in their field, and always provide playworkers, usually tepee staff to assist.

Tepee will be responsible for risk assessments, evaluations and publicity and will provide refreshments, a mobile book library and information about playwork, related training, funding, future events and an opportunity to become a member of Tepee.

In the past Tepee has been able to offer a number of these sessions to Tepee member groups free of charge, due to being able to access funding. However due to changes in funding programmes this is not currently the case.

Freewheeling sessions are now offered during school holidays for a small fee to cover costs. Member groups can be given funding advice about how to raise money to cover these costs.

As an example: Homestart applied to Teignbridge District Council Play Initiative funding to provide 2 childrens workshops, and then booked Tepee to run 2 Freewheeling sessions – felt making and storytelling.

Over the last year we have provided 21 Freewheeling sessions for  Westcountry Housing Association, Teignbridge Homestart, zero14plus, Moretonhampstead Summer Play Scheme and Exminster Play Scheme.
